The Odds of an Obese Person Losing Weight are at an ALL-Time Low!

 Here's a Look into Why & How United Weight Loss is Going to Help Change That!

What are the odds of an obese person actually losing weight? Let's take an excerpt from the Oct 2015 Issue of IDEA Fitness Journal and see what they have to say.

"According to new journal research in the American Journal of Public Health (2015;doi:10.2015/AJPH.2015.302773), the odds of an obese person achieving a 'normal' weight are extremely low."

WOW. That's discouraging! Take a look at two other excerpts from the same article.

"'The annual probability [of patient with simple obesity attaining] a normal body weight was 1 in 210 for men and 1 in 124 for women,' the authors reported."

"'In morbidly obese patients, the annual probability of achieving normal weight was 1 in 1,290 form men and 1 in 677 for women,' the author stated."

So in conclusion...

"'Our findings indicate that current non-surgical obesity treatment strategies are failing to achieve sustained weight loss for the majority of obese patients,' the author said.'

UHHHH...WHAT DO WE DO WITH THAT?!
Should we just give up and quit trying since chances are we will never regain our health again?!
THIS SEEMS HOPELESS!

WAIT!!!! There is ONE more excerpt I would like to share with you:

"'Obesity treatment programs should prioritize prevention of further weight gain along with the maintenance of weight loss in those who achieve it.'"

What is United Weight Loss?

What a great question! Well, let me start by introducing myself first. My name is Sarah Phillips, co-founder of United Weight Loss and your personal fitness expert. I have been involved in the fitness industry for over 11 years and have worked with individuals and clients from all different walks of life. I started off as a Hatha Yoga instructor and loved learning how the body and mind work together to achieve long-lasting change in every aspect of life. Once teaching, I was exposed to other group fitness classes (some of which include Zumba, Les Mills Body Combat, Aqua Aerobics, Spin, Power Yoga, etc.) and personal training. As a result, I fell in love with spreading my passion and knowledge for fitness to others. 

Once I became the Director of the Personal Training Department, as well Precision Nutrition certified and a Certified Health Coach, for my employer, I met every new member who walked through the door and discussed why they joined the gym and helped develop a road map for success with them. I would then check in on them from time-to-time to make sure they stayed on track or offered adjustments or suggestions to keep them moving forward.

I learned something from each person, but I noticed a recurring theme with everyone. They would all start out strong, get partly to their goal, and then fall of the wagon and become demotivated due to a busy schedule, life change, or boredom. Well, let's face it. We ALL have those moments and those life circumstances where our priorities change and fitness or health takes a back seat. So I had a burning question that desperately needed answered. 

How could I, with all of my passion and desire to help others, provide clients a solution to help them get healthy and STAY healthy long-term?!

Thus, United Weight Loss was born!!! I have created a system that will address all the factors that hinder us from achieving our goals...and more importantly, a system that will help you maintain you goal!

Nutritional Coaching: As a Certified Health Coach as well as a Certification in Precision Nutrition, the leading nutrition certification for fitness professionals for over 15 years, I provide tailor-made nutritional programs and suggestions to not only get you the immediate results you want, but to coach you step-by-step through the process of developing habits that create a healthy lifestyle that can be maintained!
